[Joseph Clay Neal], notice in the Pennsylvanian

Neal (1807–47) was a journalist and humorist; he is best remembered for Charcoal Sketches; or Scenes in a Metropolis (1838). He became editor of the Pennsylvanian (a Philadelphia daily) in 1832. Poe identified Neal as the author of this review in his Saturday Museum biography.
