ABSTRACT
The Ladies’ National Magazine was established in Philadelphia in 1842 by Charles J. Peterson as a rival to Godey's successful Lady's Book. Peterson (1819–87) was also associated with Graham's Magazine, and differences between him and Poe were rumoured to have provoked Poe's resignation. However, there are no signs of animosity in this notice — rather the contrary.
