ABSTRACT

In a memorial volume published five years after Tennyson's death F. T. Palgrave recalled some of Tennyson's favourite poets and poems. He mentioned poems by Clough, Rogers, and Moore, among others, and gave lines which Tennyson was in the habit of quoting, from Marvell, Milton, Sidney, Petrarch, Pope, Chaucer, and Donne ('Personal Recollections by F.
