Milman (1791-1868), a copious poet and historian, was Professor of Poetry at Oxford, 1821-31, and Dean ofSt Paul's from 1849. He gave an account of his predecessor 'Dean John Donne' in his Annals of s. Paul's Cathedral, 1868, pp. 323-30, and commented on Donne's poetry.
