ABSTRACT
Osborn (1593-1659) twice instanced Donne in prudently advising young men not to follow fashion indiscriminately, not to seem more brilliant than their superiors, and so on (Advice to a Son (1656), 1673, To the Reader, and p. 68). Osborn's Advice to a Son was one of the most highly esteemed and popular works of its time.
