ABSTRACT

John Hacket (1592-1670), Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield in the 1660s, had been Chaplain to Lord Keeper Williams and, after the Restoration, was Canon Residentiary at St Paul's. In his Scrinia Reserata: A Memorial Offer'd to the Great Deservings oJJohn Williams, D.D., 1693, Part i, p. 63, Hacket described how Lord Keeper Williams helped bring about the advancement in the Church of two divines who had served a former Lord Keeper.
