Davie (b. 1922), a British poet, critic and teacher, is Professor of English at Vanderbilt University. He published his ‘Collected Poems’ in 1972. Among his critical studies are ‘Purity of Diction in English Verse’ (1952), ‘Articulate Energy’ (1955), ‘Ezra Pound: Poet as Sculptor’ (1965) and ‘Thomas Hardy and British Poetry’ (1972). He is one of the editors of ‘PN Review’.
