ABSTRACT
Rachischisis A type of meningomyelocoele in which the spinal cord (neural tube) is wide open, commonly in the middle of the back. Sometimes this term is used to refer to complete splitting of the back of the entire vertebral column (backbone) and skull with exposure of the brain and spinal cord.
