INTRODUCTION

The central thesis of this work is that a novel philosophical framework is required to successfully negotiate the contested terrain between rhetoric and scientific realism in the contemporary debate in the philosophy of economics. We call this framework causal holism. Historically, causal holism emerges from the shadows of Quine’s holism and van Fraassen’s constructive empiricism.
