ABSTRACT

To make anything of the Dearing recommendations in a practical way, the internal community (and culture) of the university will have to respond positively and to adapt. In crude management-speak this is often referred to as ‘changing the culture’, but what is interesting about the Dearing Report (and is echoed in much of our personal analysis of its implications) is how far Dearing also wants to see aspects of ‘traditional’ university culture restored and enhanced as well as acceptance of innovation and change.
