ABSTRACT

Of all Mrs. Morris’s early correspondence, the most important was an exchange of letters with Edward Sapir in 1925 (Edward Sapir’s Correspondence [ESC], Canadian Museum of Civilization). Unlike many of his cohorts, Sapir was quite accustomed to dealing with members of the public on a variety of issues concerning language, poetry, music, and the many other topics that attracted his attention. It is not at all surprising that he felt comfortable working with Alice Morris.
