The Ec, The Nordic Countries And The Institutional Arrangements Of Social Democracy

In the last two chapters we looked at recent developments in the four Nordic nations, asking to what extent they undermined the institutional arrangements identified in Part II as fundamental to the egalitarian outcomes they have attained. The question was left in abeyance, and we shall return to it in the Conclusion. In this chapter we look at one crucial aspect of recent developments, namely the relationship of the four countries to the European Community.
