ABSTRACT

Fresh interest in wind power developed in the mid1970s in the UK and in much of the Western World. This followed the oil price increases of 1973 and 1974 but was assisted by the great advances in materials and aerospace and computer technology. The mathematics necessary to analyse thoroughly the dynamics, aerodynamics and aeroelastics of medium and large wind turbines (WTs) are highly complex. Prior to this, development had been static for many years.
