ABSTRACT
Half-brothers and sisters with a shared father do not normally consider themselves to be less than full brothers and sisters, and refer to themselves accordingly. Given the fact that polygamy was until recently quite common, and that the high mortality rate meant that non-polygamous men could expect to marry more than once in their lifetime, it is quite common for siblings to share the same father but have different mothers.
