ABSTRACT

There are as many varieties of heroin as there are types of tea. As with tea, consumers in one area are often unaware that different varieties and ways of use are commonplace elsewhere in the world. In Britain, until recently, tea users considered tea to be an infusion in boiled water of cheap dried tea-bush leaves, to which cold milk and usually sugar were added. Most were unaware of specific brands, such as Lapsang Souchong or Orange Pekoe; or green tea or brick tea; or tea boiled up with sweetened milk or with mint; or tea used in cooking to make ice cream or to flavour stews. They had no idea that these uses of tea were routine in other cultures.
