ABSTRACT

All NQTs have the same full entitlement to induction, such as the 10 per cent release time, a suitably experienced induction tutor and a programme of support, monitoring and assessment. However, certain groups of school, college and NQT require particular consideration when providing induction. This chapter covers five ‘settings’ which our research evidence found to be distinctive in terms of specific requirements for effective induction. These are:

sixth form colleges,

independent schools,

special schools,

small schools,

supply teachers.
