ABSTRACT
The first chapters of this book have presented an ambiguous picture of performance measurement. On the one hand, it has its beneficial effects; on the other hand, it invites perverse behaviour. What should the final appraisal of performance measurement be? I shall give my appraisal in the form of seven paradoxes in performance measurement.
