ABSTRACT
In practice, atria are rarely incorporated in designs for the main purpose of energy saving. The motivation is more likely to be architectural. Accepting that the atrium is now a very common feature in large public and commercial buildings, it becomes all the more important to ensure that it does not commit the building to a lifetime of high ener gy consumption.
