ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses some of the main criteria which can be applied to the design of sheltered housing. It asks: in which ways are older people different from the rest of the population? What special problems result from the impairments which affect people as they age? What are their social needs? What particular anthropometric and ergonomic characteristics do they display? What are their environmental requirements?
