ABSTRACT

A composite panel is any laminated panel which is manufactured from different materials, permanently bonded together so that they act as a single structural element. For the purposes of this chapter, the description composite panel will refer to building cladding panels having metal facings to both surfaces, with an insulation core which completely fills the space between the two facings and is continuously and permanently bonded to both. The term used in European Standards for this type of factory insulated panel is ‘Sandwich Panel’.
