ABSTRACT
This paper outlines the second draft of Part 1 of the proposed ISO standard for service life of buildings as it was presented at the ISO TC59/SC3/WG9 meeting in Garston, Watford, UK in December 1995. It describes the general principles of the standard and outlines the methodology used for the standardisation of the planning, design and maintenance of buildings. Finally it gives recommendations for the research needed to formulate methods and supporting documents for the input of information in this standard.
