ABSTRACT
In contrast to the macroscopic approach described in the previous chapter, a microscopic analysis is aimed at treating the energy requirements for impurity dissolution in terms of the structure and type of chemical bonding. The relation to the macroscopic theory is through the values of dissolution enthalpy ΔH calculated from the first principles.
