ABSTRACT
Among the peoples most consistently classified as Plains rather than Prairie or Plateau Indians, the Arapaho, Blackfeet, Cheyenne, Crow, and Sioux held many narrative traditions in common, even though some tribes were enemies, like the Blackfeet and Crow, or spoke mutually unintelligible languages, like the Sioux and Cheyenne.
