ABSTRACT
Our foremost Native American playwright is Lynn Riggs, who also remains one of the greatest writers of folk drama. Author of thirty plays and many poems, Riggs attained fame, ironically, from a production on which he did not work: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, which was based on Riggs’s Green Grow the Lilacs.
