ABSTRACT
When all of the emotional rhetoric that surrounds the quincentenary celebration of the arrival of Columbus to the New World is removed, the Columbian consequences, the changes brought about by the union of the Old and New Worlds, describes one of the most important events in the history of the world. The Columbian exchange describes the social consequences of the exchange of pathogens, cultigens, and animals between the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
