ABSTRACT
This section includes some illustrative examples learned from ourselves and from colleagues who have made various mistakes in designing assessment instruments or practices. We include these scenarios in the hope that they may help others avoid making similar mistakes, and that they will whet your appetite for some of the more detailed suggestions and discussions we offer in the chapters that follow.
