ABSTRACT

In Agra I fell ill, and with the hot weather the malady increased, until in September I decided to go to Delly for change of air. When I was better the Father who lived there became very infirm and the charge of the Mission was given to me. To do the work well, I determined to perfect my knowledge of Hindustan, the common language of Mogol, in order to be able to teach and preach fluently. I also again studied Persian, in which tongue the Gospels, many prayers and catechisms are written, as well as very useful books by Father Hieronimus Xavier of our Society.
