ABSTRACT
Educational test results, as I noted earlier, are playing an ever more important role in determining the quality of U.S. public schools. This is the chief reason that anyone seeking to understand the pressures on public schools today needs to know at least a few basic things about how educational tests work. In this chapter, I’ll be introducing some nuts-andbolts concepts in educational testing that play a significant role in the debate surrounding NCLB reforms.
