ABSTRACT

Like when I got out of high school, I went to nursing school for two years. I finished that. I have my nurse’s license, because I was, like, halfway through, and I put all this time and energy in. It was very difficult to finish. You couldn’t tell I had a problem; most people thought I just had a bad back. Because I couldn’t walk up the stairs well. But I really couldn’t get a job as a nurse. Muscular dystrophy is a progressive disease, and you lose a lot. Like, I equate it with dying, sort of. Like you’re always losing something. Like first, I couldn’t get down a curb; that’s gone. Then, I couldn’t like cross the street. Like walking-every year it’s something else. But so, it was very difficult to finish nursing school.
