ABSTRACT
I departed out of London in the ship called the Tiger, in the company of Master John Newbery, Master Ralph Fitch and six or seven other honest merchants, upon Shrove Monday 5 , 1583, and arrived in Tripolis of Syria the 1st day of May next ensuing 6 . At our landing we went a-maying upon St. George’s Island, a place where Christians dying aboard the ships are wont to be buried.
