ABSTRACT
Evil is to be overcome by forgiveness. As likewise is violence . . . Yet just as violence is convertible with evil, but distinguished from it according to our modus cognoscendi (but not by any formal distinction), so also there is a distinction to be made by us between escape from violence and escape from evil, even though they are two entirely coinciding aspects of the same process, like the front and the back of a depthless strip.
