ABSTRACT
This research investigates the way some narratives are used to maintain hegemonic ideology and suppress other narratives during times of contestation. Six concepts-hegemony, ideology, and narrative, political generations, political unconscious, and collective memory-provide a systematic theoretical perspective to analyze narratives about Wilmington 1898.
