ABSTRACT
This taster starts with the basic principles of Web server software to support the serving up of static content. It outlines the main performance problems and summarizes refinements that can improve performance. It continues with an overview of how dynamic content is supported. The use of scripting languages to drive the creation of dynamic content is not covered in this topic; see Chapter 29.
