ABSTRACT
Unless an established application software package is being used where adequate sizing information is available, hardware sizing during the early stages of the system lifecycle is frequently impeded by the scarcity of information. As the task tends to consist more of judgment than science, many people are discouraged from attempting to size the proposed system, although it is important that it should be tackled at this time to provide capacity and cost estimates.
