ABSTRACT

In this chapter the central theme is the implementation of air power and the actual use of the air forces. In the previous chapters the higher (military-political) levels of strategy were described. In this part the remaining levels, operations, tactics and technical level, will be presented. The themes of earlier chapters return here in analysing subjects such as the application of the various levels of strategy in the Chechen conflicts, the performance of security actors, the use of air forces in an irregular conflict and the relationship between military doctrine and the practice of warfare. Since the latter is one of the basic questions of this book, the account of this section will be included in the next chapter on conclusions.
