ABSTRACT

In this final chapter the objectives and basic questions of this book will be answered. Next, the validity of the research will be discussed. Following this, I will expand on major developments after the year 2000 which influenced Russian foreign and security policies. In doing so, I shall analyse the consequences of the terrorist attacks against the United States of 11 September 2001, the dispute with Georgia on the Pankisi Valley and the ‘Nord-Ost’ stage-taking of October 2002, and assess the further development of Russia’s security policy.
