ABSTRACT
The substance that makes up the river, the actual water molecules, are constantly changing as the water flows from the river and into the sea. The substance of the river is never the same from one moment to the next, and yet it is the same river. What gives the river its identity despite the fact that none of the actual physical stuff that makes up the river is the same?
