ABSTRACT
Understanding genocide requires getting inside the minds of those who commit it, and those who seek to prevent or limit it. This is the province of psychology. Not surprisingly, many of the more prominent scholars and analysts of genocide are psychologists and psychiatrists, including Israel Charny, Ervin Staub, Roy Baumeister, Robert Jay Lifton, and James Waller.
