ABSTRACT
The climate is delicious[,] the sea & distant mountains more beautiful than words & pencil can express & then the new vegetation & the new animals[,] the wonderfully picturesque town & people give one so much to do with one’s 6? senses… I did not expect anything half so wonderfully beautiful as I find. I never saw such a place!… I can’t draw [it in] the least.… The place intoxicates one. 1
