ABSTRACT

How do children see their own situation, in the school, among friends and in the family? In addressing this question I will draw on the international Health Behaviour of School Children (HBSC) study, in which I am involved as part of the Danish research group. I will also discuss children’s rights, informed by my experience as a member of the National Board for Children during the 1990s-and as chairman (commissioner for children) in the period 1998-2001, positions which have considerably influenced my views.
