ABSTRACT
Augustus the tiger was sad because he lost his smile (Rayner 2008). Augustus searches bushes, trees, mountains, oceans, deserts, puddles, before realising his smile is there whenever he is happy. Blake searches for a force beyond man to capture the power of his ‘Tyger’. The children’s story and the adult poem each feature a tiger and bring mathematical possibilities, should we look for them.
