ABSTRACT

Michael Zieky (chapter 17 of this text) considered eight practical questions regarding the use of differential item functioning (DIF) in test development. Each of these questions has important implications for test development practice. Answers to these questions obviously are needed in order for DIF to be used as part of the test development, form assembly, scoring, and reporting processes of an operational testing program. The answers also may have implications for the development and ju_B.tification of the content specifications of future tests and for the construct validity of the resulting measures.
