ABSTRACT
When that realm was taken over, the Khonggirad queen of Ukhagatu Khagan was three months pregnant. That queen hid in a barrel, and got left behind. The Chinese call a barrel ‘gang’, and the Mongols call it ‘butung’. Juyu Khungkhua1 took that queen and ascended the royal throne. The queen thought to herself: ‘If the child appears after seven months he will do away with it as the son of the enemy. If it appears after ten months he will think it is his own son and not harm it,’ and she prayed, saying: ‘My heavenly Father! Have mercy on me and deign to add three months, making it ten months.’ Heaven had mercy, and a male child was born after thirteen months. Another male child was born to the Chinese queen of the Emperor Juyu Khungkhua.
