ABSTRACT

IT is related, O auspicious King, that there was once, in the days of long ago, a King of Persia named Khusrau Shah-but Allah knows allwhom the Giver had dowered with power, beauty and youth, and above all with so just a heart that, during his reign, the tiger and the kid walked side by side and drank together from the same stream. This King delighted to see for himself what passed in his capital city and used to walk about at night, disguised as a foreign merchant, accompanied by his wazir or some other dignitary of the palace.
