ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter I discussed a case of anorexia in a male patient. In this chapter I will extract some theoretical implications from this study. The premise is that in the treatment of anorexia, art psychotherapy has a specific contribution to make. In the case of severe eating disorders the client’s relationship to food may be understood to be a means of negotiating and mediating between the internal world and the external environment. It is a way of controlling desire in relation to food.
