ABSTRACT

The art of the actor is not necessarily limited to realistic situations, social games, daily life. Sometimes, the higher the level and the quality of this art, the farther it distances itself from this realistic foundation, entering into realms of exceptionality: the living stream of pure impulses. It is precisely this that has really always interested Grotowski in his work with the actor. But to remove the actor’s art from the realistic foundation, dear to Stanislavski, and to reach a higher level, it is absolutely necessary to know this foundation.
