ABSTRACT

The remarkable thing about bi-logic is that people from different intellectual backgrounds can easily gather together and use it as a common ground.

The London-based bi-logic group has about twenty members with ten disciplines represented. The number of subjects presented by members illustrates the breadth of its ideas. For instance, there have been Arden (1984), a psychoanalyst, on Bateson and bi-logic; Ahumada (1994), a psychoanalyst, on the inductive process in psychoanalysis; Bettcher (1991), a philosopher, on the logic of bi-logic; Bomford (1989a and b, 1990a and b, 1992), an Anglican priest, on the characteristics of the unconscious compared with those of God, on the logical foundations of bi-logic, on the use of metaphor, and on myth and meaning; Duran (1989), a philosopher, on ideology; and Carmen Fink (1991), a lawyer, on bi-logic and the concept of criminality. Klaus Fink (1989, 1991, 1992a and b, 1993), a psychoanalyst, has been the group’s most prolific clinical contributor. Elkan (1989, 1992), a child psychotherapist, has spoken on the book of Genesis and psychic development; Evans (1990, 1993), a forensic psychiatrist, on paradox; Jiménez (1990), a psychoanalyst, on dreams and bi-logic; Jordan (1990), a psychoanalyst, on a clinical study about inner space; Mordant (1990, 1992, 1994; Mordant and Rayner 1990), a mathematician, on bi-logic and logical analysis; Maw (1990), a linguistician, on bi-logic and language; Rayner (1991, 1992), a psychoanalyst, on abstraction and on attunement in psychoanalysis; Reyes and Lucey (1990), a child psychiatrist, on bi-logic, families, money and symmetrization; Skelton (1984, 1989, 1990a and b, 1992), a logician and psychotherapist, on logic, infinity, rhetoric and psychoanalytic therapy; Sporrong (1992, 1993), a psychiatrist and philosopher, on logical analysis and bi-logic; Wilson (1989), a psychiatrist and group therapist, on bi-logic and group phenomena; Wohlmuth and Goldberg (1990), a lawyer, on bilogic and justice; and lastly Wooster (Wooster et al. 1990, 1992), a psychoanalyst, has written about the book of Genesis and on Shakespeare.
