ABSTRACT
Culture is one of the most elusive terms in the history of modern thought. In anthropology it refers to social heritage and encompasses ideas, beliefs, aesthetic perceptions and values. The term culture has been in common usage for nearly a century and yet there has not been any agreement on its definition or an understanding of its interaction with variables like race, nationality, social class, literacy or religion.
