ABSTRACT

In chapter 4, we introduced the concept that a number of operations strategy types exist. In Fig. 4.2 (p. 71), the link between operations strategy types (chapter 4), their building blocks (chapter 5) and implementation or deployment of the strategy (chapter 6) was suggested. Further, we can see how the taxonomy was formulated by identifying the interconnection between generic strategy types (the phylum) and their physical description and embodiment (the class) as in Fig. 5.1. The interface between these is provided by strategic decisions concerning the operations strategy building blocks (the order) and their unique fusion into a customized entity (the class or phylum).
