INTRODUCTION

In chapter 3 we suggested that an organization may exhibit a hierarchy of strategies: generic strategies, strategic positioning, and operations strategy (followed by the operations management activities or components necessary to achieve strategic objectives). Thus, we can see that the operations strategy or strategies (and there may be more than one) in any firm, can provide a direct link to, and interpretation of, the wider business and corporate strategies.
